Coronavirus Fashion Statement for Solidarity?
A makeup artist in Pakistan created a fashion statement to show solidarity with the victims of coronavirus
Pakistani makeup artist and stylist Hima Raza has created some fashion statements in the wake of the pandemic of coronavirus. 3 girls, all wearing pink attires, probably with the relevance of February, which many call a month of love as Valentine’s day fall on the 14th of this month. What made them different or noticeable is that 2 of them are wearing a sort of a surgical mask, with red dots on it and the one in the middle is wearing simple sheer cloth which also has red dots on it.
It seemed as if fashion is also somehow affected by coronavirus. Masala contacted Hima Raza who runs a beauty salon in Karachi and asked about the shoot which looks inspired by the recent outbreak of coronavirus which has now become a global pandemic. Talking to Masala, Hima Raza said that the shoot was done to show solidarity with the spread of the coronavirus. “We actually shot it for awareness and little did we know the case of coronavirus would appear in Karachi, Pakistan as well." She said that this was done to show concern and solidarity with all the people who are affected by this.
She said that it is a conceptual shoot highlighting the crucial issue of what is now known to us as a global pandemic.
Hima chooses a professional model Sonia Nazir for the shoot and decided to have herself and another stylist, Ayesha Ali, in the picture as well along with Sonia Nazir. She portrays herself in the picture along with the professional model Sonia Nazir. Of-course, Hima didn’t know that the novel Coronavirus will also come to Pakistani through Iran, however, she said that the message is clear and simple that we all have to be very careful and by doing collective efforts, we can all remain safe from coronavirus.
